Project for: Caregivers of Alzheimer Patients living in Switzerland
Shaping the Future of Alzheimer’s Care in Switzerland: Caregiver Adboard
Navigating the realities of Alzheimer’s disease is deeply complex, and no one understands the practical challenges within the Swiss healthcare system better than relatives and caregivers. You hold invaluable, firsthand experience of the entire patient journey—from recognising the initial signs of memory loss to securing a diagnosis and managing ongoing care.
Today, the landscape of Alzheimer’s disease care is undergoing a significant transformation. As new advancements approach, your practical insights and lived experiences are essential to helping us ensure the healthcare system is fully prepared for this evolution.
What is changing?
*Earlier Detection: Soon, simple blood tests will be available as a new additional diagnostic tool to help detect Alzheimer’s disease earlier and easier.
*New Treatments: There are new therapies becoming available (including promising new medicines in our late-stage development) that are designed for the early stages of the disease. These are not just to manage symptoms, but to actually slow the disease down.
Why does this matter?
Because of these new developments, there needs to be a big change in how we approach Alzheimer's disease. To get these new treatments, patients must be diagnosed as early as possible.
General practitioners (GPs) will play a huge, new role in spotting the disease early and guiding families. However, right now, many GPs face challenges. They may not have all the information about these new blood tests yet, and there are still no clear, expert guidelines on how to handle these new challenges in everyday practice. new way of testing and treating in everyday practice.
Why we are hosting this Caregiver AdBoard / workshop?
We are hosting this F2F Caregiver AdBoard / Workshop in the Basel Headquarter (end of August, approx. 3 hours) to listen to your real-life experiences.
We want to understand:
*What are the biggest hurdles you faced getting a diagnosis and care?
*Where does the current system fall short?
*What opportunities do you see to better support families in the future?
How Your Insights Will Be Used:
Your firsthand experience is essential to driving meaningful change. Please be assured that all insights and feedback you share during the workshop will be fully anonymised to protect your privacy.
We will present these anonymised findings to a panel of medical specialists. By combining your real-world perspective with their clinical expertise, we aim to collaboratively develop solutions. Our shared goal is to help inform physician training, address existing gaps in the healthcare system, and ultimately build a more seamless and supportive care journey for future Alzheimer’s disease patients and their families across Switzerland.
